It melts needles with a diameter of up to 1.2 mm in 1-2 seconds and needles of 1.6 mm in just a few seconds.

It helps prevent most needlestick accidents caused by: replacing the needle cap, removing the needle from a used syringe, transporting hospital waste. Leftover destroyed needles are sterilized and stored in a drawer at the base of the unit.
